Biography

PIERRE BELLEMARE

Le Jardinier

Pierre Bellemare was born in Quebec City, Canada, in the early 1960’s. He earned a college diploma in fine arts from Cegep de Trois Rivieres in 1981 and a Bachelor of Arts from Universite Laval in 1984. He was introduced to painting by the artist Norman Bousvert and he studied illustrations under the painters Antoine Dumas and Milos Reindl.

Upon graduation Bellemare worked in advertising agencies as well as for the Canadian Government. In 1991 he founded Bellemare Design Graphique, a firm dedicated to visual communication. He completed various international projects and in 2004 received the Zenith Award from the Government of Quebec for a communications campaign. His entire career has centered on visual creation and design. Paintings regained importance in the life of Pierre Bellemare as a way to communicate emotions.

He is captivated by the rich palette of colors in flower gardens. Travels to Italy, Greece, Spain, and China inspired the vibrant colors and warm harmonies he loves to use in his work. His hope is that the “person looking at the painting will continue the act of creation by imagining what is behind the fence or in the grove or on the other side of the lake. It’s there in that brief moment of escape that creativity carries on.” Bellemare’s paintings are in private collections in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

He has had exhibits in Montreal, Quebec City, France, and now in Westport, CT. Gallerie Je Reviens is proud and privileged to present the art of Pierre Bellemare for your viewing pleasure and consideration.
