Biography

JEAN-FRANÇOIS BOURGEAT

French Landscape Painter

Jean-François Bourgeat was born in 1962 in Paris where he studied at the École Art Graphique and the École Des Beaux-Arts. His dual concentration caused him to simultaneously become attracted to the graphic arts as well as interested in the style of the Impressionist masters. His latter passion is what is most evident in his work today. Bourgeat paints French landscapes and his “En Plein Aire” tendency reflects the textures and subtle movements of changing light and reflection in his water scenes around the Ile De France, Brittany and Alsace.

While on location he had many great opportunities to paint alongside and meet many internationally renowned artists including, Jean Kevorkian, who took an interest in Jean- Francois’s love of color and light. Bourgeat has spent some time under his tutelage and his work has evolved to a new level of academic sophistication as a result of the relationship.

Gallerie Je Reviens is pleased to exhibit his work in Westport in the company of several other Contemporary European Impressionists.

Bourgeat has exhibited at the Salon Maurice in Paris and the Salon de Promodiere in Brittany. His work has also shown in some of the greatest cities in France and the United States over the past several years.
